What originally began back in January of 2001 between two local family farms joining forces to begin a company with a vision to bring high quality products that are hormone free and environmentally friendly to life. It’s great to be able to have a local Virginia company offer such great products and service.
The home delivery service began back in 2006 and was an instant hit. With four trucks rolling around the Roanoke Valley area on a daily basis you are sure to see the Homestead Creamery name quite often. Since kicking off the home delivery service the creamery has delivered to over 1,200 customers within a 50-mile radius of the creamery. They service Franklin and Botetourt Counties as well as Salem and Roanoke. You won’t just find milk available through the home delivery service…bakery items, fresh produce, locally made frozen entrees, hand molded butter and other miscellaneous items are available. Featured in Whole Foods and Earth Fare stores as well as 90 Kroger grocery stores across Virginia, wholesale sales are a big part of the Homestead Creamery business. A plant expansion is currently in progress and once complete the creamery is excited to get back into the cheese business.
The Homestead Creamery Farm Market is a must visit in Burnt Chimney as not only will you find a wide range of Homestead Creamery products but also a large variety of Virginia made goods as well. The country store atmosphere also offers homemade soup and sandwiches as well as a petting zoo for the younger ones. Dairy and creamery tours are also available.
The company’s calling card is the homemade style ice cream which they consider to be a sweet science. The philosophy of Homestead Creamery is that they want their products to stand out.
