First Fridays at Five-On the Border

Admission: $5
Location: Franklin Road between Williamson and Jefferson
Known as “The Original Downtown Party with a Purpose,” First Fridays is the collaboration of local businesses raising money for local charities. The August show features On the Border-The Ultimate Eagles Tribute Band. Food and beverages will be available to purchase on site. No outside food, beverages, pets, weapons, popup tents, or umbrellas allowed. IDs are required.
23rd Annual Mountain Valley Cluster Dog Show
Dates: July 31, 2019-August 4, 2019
Time: 8am-4pm
Admission: Free
Location: Salem Civic Center
This event features approximately 5000 dogs representing 145 breeds competing for the top prize. Vendors will be on site offering items and the staff from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine will be conducing Eye and Cardiac Clinics. Parking and admission are free!
Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr
Dates: July 31, 2019-August 11, 2019
Times: Wednesday/Friday-7:30p; Thursday/Saturday-2p and 7:30p, Sunday-2p
Admission: $15/$22
Location: Mill Mountain Theatre
This beloved storybook favorite will be presented as a one-hour production by the Conservatory youth talent and is comprised solely of young, local talent. Children in attendance will also receive free books as part of Mill Mountain Theatre’s initiative to connect theatre to literacy.
Party in Elmwood
Dates: Recurring weekly on Thursday
Times: 5:30p-8:30p
Admission: $5; Kids under 12 are free
Location: Elmwood Park
Bring your lawn chair and enjoy “The Best Beach Party in the Valley!” Bands taking the stage in August include Part Time Party Time Band, Gary Lowder & Smokin Hot, Too Much Sylvia, Band of Oz, and The Embers ft. Craig Woolard. Food and beverages for sale on site. No coolers allowed.
Art by Night

Admission: Free
Location: Various Galleries in Downtown Roanoke
Art by Night features diverse galleries, museums, and artist’s studios highlighting Roanoke’s talented and vibrant artisan community. Guests will discover paintings, sculptures, prints, photography, and more. Free parking is available after 5pm at the Warehouse Row lot Salem Avenue and the Elmwood lot at Williamson.
