Smith Mountain Lake State Park has long been a popular attraction for lake area visitors. The 1,148-acre state park provides boat ramps and rentals, a public beach, fishing piers, hiking and biking trails, and a playground/picnic area. This summer, the SML State Park is also providing pontoon rides across the lake for visitors. While there is an entrance fee to enter the state park to use the facilities, the pontoon rides are free.
The pontoons will be captained and will also have a guide that can educate visitors on various aspects of the lake, including wildlife and landscape. The tours will take place every Tuesday and Thursday morning during the summer. Moonlight tours will also be available.
The Smith Mountain Lake State Park is located in Bedford County at 1235 Rd 888, Huddleston, VA, 24104.
